Two men suffered minor injuries after being sprayed with bear spray during a robbery attempt near
downtown Belleville early yesterday morning.
City police report a group of young men in a vehicle stopped at a convenience store on Bridge Street West around 4:30 a.m. and demanded that two other men give them all of their belongings.
They sprayed the two victims with bear spray and fled the scene before police arrived.
Police spotted the vehicle nearby, around Wallbridge Crescent, and the driver took off eventually crashing a short distance away.
Police arrested two males and charged them with assault with a weapon, robbery, and weapons dangerous.
They will appear for a bail hearing tomorrow.
