Plans are in the works to offer summertime ice in the Duncan MacDonald Community Centre.
Quinte West staff report the Trenton Goldenhawks are committed to taking 200 hours of ice time in the summer, and the Wellington Dukes have expressed interest in taking some.
Other user groups such as hockey development camps, casual leagues, and figure skating organizations are interested in more ice.
Quinte West staff say that after a $175,000 one-time capital expenditure, summer ice could turn a profit for the city.
The proposed ice rental rate in the summer would be $150 an hour.
If council approves, summer ice could be available this year.
