The Progressive Conservative MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington has expressed his support for the Ontario government’s latest move in connection with the trials of two people in connection with the gas-plant issue.
In a letter to Ontario’s attorney general, Madeleine Meilleur, Randy Hillier says “The decision serves to mitigate clouds of suspicion that may have otherwise overcast on the proceedings for a public that is eager to see justice take its course.”
Meilleur has appointed the Public Prosecutions Service of Canada to act on behalf of the crown in the trials of former Dalton McGuinty staffers David Livingstone and Laura Miller.
Livingstone and Miller, face trial on charges of breach of trust for their alleged involvement in the destruction of government documents surrounding the cancellation by the provincial Liberal government of two gas-fired power plants.
