A report by the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus says the lack of access to energy, and its high cost, are hampering industry growth in the region.
In presenting the report to Hastings County council, administrator Jim Pine said the problem in eastern Ontario is quite a number of exiting businesses can’t get hydro power for their operations because of the lack of transmission systems, even hydro poles.
He says the high cost of hydro is also a problem.
Pine says the Goodyear Tire plant in Napanee is a example of a company that is affected in its present operations, and also can’t get access to power to expand.
