Belleville is following up on recommendations from a consultant’s review of its building inspection department, and local builders are pleased with the cutting of the red tape. Chief building Official Ted Marecak told council last night many of the recommendations were nearly completed. President of Quinte Homebuilders Association Eric Denouden says communication between the city and the builders is the main thing that has been improved. Denouden says, for instance, if a builder is found to be making a slight mistake in procedure, he should be given some time to correct it. Council received the consultant’s report and directed Marecak to proceed with implementing the recommendations.
