Centre Hastings Council is on board with a Hastings County initiative which will keep area first responders connected in case of a major emergency.
The municipality will be part of the county’s Incident Management System, which standardizes terminology and a chain of command at an emergency scene and makes it easier for neighbouring departments to work together.
Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline says while there are great first responders in Centre Hastings there’s strength in numbers in case of major flooding, tornado or other disaster situation.
The program isn’t mandatory, but Hastings County officials are sure most will take part.
Hastings County will foot the bill for training staff in each town as they come on board with the plan.
