A Brighton residents concerns over swan poop have been poo-pooed by staff. John Martinelli told council, at last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting, they should look into installing wire screen over the wetland to keep the big birds out. but, Director of Public Works Jim Phillips says part of the purpose of the wetland is to attract such birds. The primary purpose of the contructed wetland is to cleanse wastewater from the treatment plant but the secondary purpose is to attract wildlife. Last month, council approved a policy allowing birders and other wildlife lovers access to the treatment wetland to view birds and animals close up.
