A visit by the Prime Minister of Poland to the oldest Polish settlement in Canada, northeast of Bancroft, has been postponed.
Donald Tusk was to have toured sites around Wilno on Wednesday, including planting a tree commemorating the unique bond between Poland and the small community between Barry’s Bay and Killaloe.
However, a Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township official says the death of the Polish President in a plane crash in Russia has put that on hold. The visit by Tusk would have been the first to Wilno by a Polish Prime Minister in the last 20 years.
