The Ostrander Point wind energy park, southeast of Milford, has been given the green light by the Ontario Power Authority.
The project, proposed by Gilead Power of Peterborough, is one of 184 green energy initiatives across Ontario awarded contracts by the provincial government yesterday. Other wind projects getting the stamp of approval are the Clean Breeze Wind Park near Grafton and the White Pines Wind Farm in the Milford area..
Solar projects were approved for a site in Demorestville, the Sunny Shores Solar Farm in Wellington and two Northland Power Solar Farms in Ameliasburgh. Sun Volts Unlimited of Belleville also has seven customers with contracts for their systems, including the City of Belleville, the Quintessential Credit Union in Belleville, and five residential sites around the area.
