Volunteer firefighters came to the rescue on Rice Lake in Hamilton Township yesterday morning.
A deer was stranded and in distress on the ice.
Northumberland News reports a Harwood firefighter walked out on the ice with a rescue raft and managed to put the deer onto it.
Firefighters pulled the raft to shore.
The deer had injuries to its legs and was taken for treatment.
