The discovery of a number of weapons at Warkworth Institution over the weekend has resulted in the prison being placed in lockdown today. Assistant warden Ann Anderson says Warkworth went into lockdown, at 1:30 yesterday afternoon, to allow for an exceptional search of the facility to take place. Anderson says visits have been postponed until the search is complete….and, life will return to normal when management determines the facility is safe.
