The sentencing of a Warkworth teenager on a charge of first degree murder has been delayed.
Justice Alexander Sosna agreed with Crown Attorney David Thompson today a report made under the Youth Criminal Justice Act is critical to the sentencing of the 16-year-old boy who killed Michelle Barnoski two years ago.. The court may be asked to consider an adult sentence. A temporary court date of June fourth in Lindsay has been set.
The youth was found guilty in mid-December of the first-degree murder of the 33-year-old victim, reported to be his mother, who had been shot eight times. Her body was found buried in her Warkworth backyard in June, 2008, about two weeks after she was reported missing. The trial of co-accused Marc Vickers starts in the fall in Oshawa.
