What started as a weapons call resulted in the arrest of a man wanted on several outstanding warrants, including assault and sexual assault.
Around 3:15 p.m. Monday, Belleville police received a call from security at a north-end business who reported observing two males in the parking lot with what appeared to be a handgun.
Officers arrived on scene within minutes and through the use of security cameras, were able identify one of the suspects.
Forty-seven-year-old Paul Laroche-Davidson of Belleville was located and arrested on outstanding warrants.
He is charged with two counts each of sexual assault, assault and theft under $5,000 as well as fail to attend court.
The alleged weapon, which turned out to be a replica handgun, was found by police in a wooded area.
The accused was held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing Tuesday.
