4th quarter statistics
The number of crimes investigated by Belleville Police in the fourth quarter of last year was a little lower than in the same period in 2023.
A report to the Belleville Police Service Board shows a total of 1,155 crimes in the last 3 months of ’24, 10 percent fewer than the year before.
There were no murder or attempted murder charges in the 4th quarter however there were 110 assault investigations and 41 sexual offences.
One crime type that showed a significant increase over the same period in 2023 was uttering threats.
There 62 threat investigations in the 4th quarter, an increase of just over 40%.
Drug investigations
Fifteen people were arrested on drug and other charges in the 4th quarter of last year.
A report to the Belleville Police Police Service Board shows Project Renewal officers conducting
7 investigations leading to a total of 43 criminal charges.
Drugs seized included 161 grams of cocaine, 264 grams of fentanyl, and lesser amounts of crystal meth and various illegal pills with a street value of close to $43,000.
The Project Renewal squad, which also includes OPP officers, also seized $8,800. in cash.
Weapons seized include 4 pellet guns, a crossbow, and an air javelin
