Brighton’s Automated Speed Enforcement program will begin operating in July.
A 90-day notification period began Tuesday in the school zone along Elizabeth Street where “Municipal Speed Camera Coming Soon” signs have been installed.
The cameras will be active on July 14 and vehicles caught speeding in the school zone will see tickets automatically sent to the registered plate holder of the vehicle regardless of who was driving.
Demerit points will not be applied.
Officials say the Automated Speed Enforcement program aligns with the Municipality of Brighton’s strategic goal of enhancing public safety by creating safe and comfortable streets for everyone on or near Municipality of Brighton roadways.
