Western Canadian star power brought out supporters in the riding of Northumberland Clarke on Monday afternoon.
Former British Columbia Premier Christy Clarke (2011-2017) was welcomed by Liberal riding candidate John Goheen.
Clark spoke with Goheen, supporters, and volunteers at his Division Street Cobourg campaign office.
From there she hit the streets in the downtown, meeting with residents and business owners in the core.
Clark spoke to Quinte News on Monday and told us there is one issue that is resonating from New Westminster to Northumberland to Newfoundland.
Audio Player“It is, what are we going to do about Trump? How are we going to deal with tariffs? People are concluding increasingly that Mark Carney is the only guy with the skills to be able to take on what Canada, at a time we are really I think, is probably the most important election in my lifetime.”
Clark continued that housing availability and affordability are also front and centre across Canada.
Audio Player“Ultimately all of that stuff really boils down to, is Canada going to be able to create more economic opportunity for people? We need candidates like John (Goheen) who are going to fight to get Liberals across the line and ensure Mark Carney is confirmed as Prime Minister.”
Goheen says it is humbling and flattering to have the support of Clark.
Audio Player“Christy is amazing and I can’t thank her enough for taking the time to come here and visit us here in Northumberland-Clarke. I do believe that this is a winnable riding and that’s why we’re out every single day knocking on doors, connecting with constituents.”
