The City of Belleville has announced its latest signing to its Doctor Recruitment Program.
Dr. Mahesh Mendis has been signed to work with the emergency medicine team at Quinte Health.
“I am truly honoured to join the Belleville emergency department team,” said Dr. Mendis in a press release.
“Dr. Ken Collins and the entire group of physicians have been incredibly welcoming and supportive. A special thank you to Martha Farrell for her guidance throughout my recruitment process—your support has meant a great deal. I’m thrilled to become part of such a wonderful community and look forward to beginning this new chapter in the beautiful city of Belleville. Every community has its unique challenges, and I am committed to serving the people of Belleville with dedication, compassion and my fullest effort.”
While healthcare and physician recruitment are not a municipal responsibility, the City of Belleville has been able to recruit more than 50 physicians and eight nurse practitioners.
Mayor Neil Ellis and Dr. Colin MacPherson, Quinte Health Chief of Staff, also commented on the latest hiring in the release.
“Dr. Mendis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Quinte Health and Belleville General Hospital, and his skills will help our residents when they need it the most,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “Council is very pleased that we have been able to partner with Quinte Health to bring him to our community and we know he will provide exceptional care to his patients.”
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Mahesh Mendis to Quinte Health and to our emergency department team at Belleville General Hospital,” said Dr. Colin MacPherson, Quinte Health Chief of Staff. “Emergency medicine is a demanding and vital field, and Dr. Mendis brings with him a deep commitment to timely, compassionate, and skilled care. His decision to join our team speaks to the strength of this community and our shared dedication to creating healthier communities together. We are deeply grateful to the City of Belleville for their continued leadership and partnership in addressing the complex challenges of physician recruitment. When we work together in service of care, we can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
