No charges will be laid following the conclusion of a Special Investigations Unit investigation into an incident in Bath in December.
Officers located and arrested a man in the foyer of an apartment building, for impaired driving, after a vehicle drove away from a RIDE stop in Bath on December 13, 2024.
While being escorted to a police cruiser, the man was not entirely cooperative, occasionally planting his feet to resist his forward movement.
He appeared to take a misstep at one point, possibly rolling his left ankle in the process.
Two days later, the man attended hospital where he was diagnosed with an ankle fracture.
On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s arrest and injury.
