Special Investigations Unit Director Joseph Martino has concluded an investigation into an incident at the Picton OPP detachment, determining that there were no reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offence was committed in connection with a man’s serious injury.
The SIU was notified after a man was seriously injured while in custody on March 24.
The male had been arrested the day before for breaching a no-contact order.
On the morning of March 24, the male fell backward in his cell, struck his head on the wall, and began shaking.
He was transported to hospital and diagnosed with a seizure due to alcohol withdrawal.
