Northumberland OPP have charged a man with manslaughter following the death of an inmate from Warkworth Institution.
On January 3, 2025, OPP learned of an incident at the prison that resulted in an inmate being transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to another medical centre.
The 30-year-old inmate from Toronto was later pronounced deceased.
Tuesday, police arrested 25-year-old Dylan Roberts of Loyalist Township.
The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a later date.
This investigation is continuing, led by the OPP Northumberland Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
