The following was submitted by Peterborough County OPP.
Officers from the Peterborough County OPP have charged an individual with assault and another with impaired driving after receiving a call regarding a domestic dispute.
On April 6, 2025 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Peterborough County OPP officers were dispatched to a report of a dispute between two parties at the side of the road. Officers attended finding one person walking away from a vehicle with the second person yelling from the side of the vehicle. After speaking with both parties, it was determined that one person had spit on the other and as a result, the individual was arrested.
A 27-year-old male was arrested and charged with;
· Assault
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.
While speaking with the other party, who was also the driver, officers detected the odor of alcohol and made a demand for an Approved Screening Device test. The driver complied providing a sample of their breath resulting in a FAIL reading and was arrested.
A 33-year-old female was arrested and charged with;
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.
