On Friday, March 28, the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit concluded a month-long investigation into a suspect engaged in the distribution of illicit drugs within the city.
The suspect was arrested without incident during a traffic stop. Following the arrest, officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the Russell Street and Montreal Street area.
During the search, investigators seized illicit drugs with an estimated street value exceeding $41,000, along with a significant quantity of Canadian currency.
Seized items:
• 78.2 grams of carfentanil
• 118 grams of fentanyl
• 19.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine
• 18.1 grams of powdered cocaine
• Related drug paraphernalia
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old female has been charged with: possession for the purpose of trafficking x 4, possession of proceeds of crime (Canadian currency) and breach of probation. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The Kingston Police Special Services Unit reminds the public that carfentanil is up to 100 times more potent than fentanyl or morphine.
Investigators uncovered evidence suggesting potential drug manufacturing activity within the residence, which poses severe risks to drug users and the broader community.
Police say cross-contamination remains a leading cause of overdose incidents and fatalities across Canada.
