Several people mistook April Fool’s Day for April fighting day early Tuesday morning.
Belleville police responded to the downtown area shortly before 3 a.m. after reports of a brawl on Front Street.
Most of the participants had left before officers arrived but one man was seen heading toward the
icy and fast-flowing Moira River.
Police say he was very intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober.
