Over 50,000 homes and businesses remained without power in the Quinte region early Monday morning as damage to power lines continued through the day yesterday due to the buildup of ice caused by a stubborn ice storm.
Outages are scattered throughout the area, including in Prince Edward County, Quinte West, rural Belleville, Centre Hastings, Brighton, Campbellford, Tweed, and Tyendinaga/Deseronto.
To the north, in the Bancroft region, over 8,000 Hydro One customers are without power.
In most cases, Hydro One predicts the lights will be back on by 6 p.m. Monday, however, in some areas it could be later than that.
Meanwhile, in urban Belleville, Elexicon Energy continues to deal with a small power outage in the area of Alexander Street.
As of 3 a.m. Monday, over 400,000 Hydro One customers were without power across the province.
The storm has moved out of this region and is heading east.
