Hundreds of thousands of people across Ontario are still without power on the third day of a spring storm, after freezing rain coated swaths of the province with thick layers of ice.
An outage map from provincial utility Hydro One shows more than 430,000 homes and businesses remained without power this morning.
The map also shows that crews have been able to restore power to 358,000 customers since the start of the storm over the weekend.
There are still about 50,000 customers in this area without power.
A windy day may hamper restoration efforts.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for wind gusts of up to 50 km/h into this evening which could cause additional damage to trees and utilities.
It should be noted that all Northumberland County and Quinte West schools and child cares in the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board are closed for Tuesday, April 1.
To assist with the post-storm cleanup, the City of Belleville has extended the hours of operation at its leaf and yard waste depot.
The depot will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. from Monday to Friday this week.
