The weekend’s freezing rain storm has caused significant damage across Belleville, with downed power lines leaving residents in the dark, and tree limbs coming crashing down onto roads and structures.

Power remains disrupted throughout the city, with a major outage in the city’s west end and a smaller outage in the east. Power has returned to some west-end neighbourhoods but full repairs aren’t expected until late Sunday afternoon.

Despite the efforts of first responders and utility crews, some roads remain impassable due to debris.
