Quinte West firefighters have had a busy night dealing with the fallout from the freezing rain storm.
Fire crews have worked through the night, responding to over 30 calls throughout the community, dealing with fallen limbs, arcing power lines, and other hazards created by the storm.
Fire Chief John Whelan says that the sheer number of calls has them swamped. While firefighters are leaving caution cones at areas with debris, they can’t stay until utility crews or public works teams arrive as they’re being called out to other locations.
Drivers are being urged to slow down and drive carefully, especially in the rural areas surrounding Quinte West.
