Belleville was ready to take the plunge at the Herchimer Boat Launch on Friday.
Several teams took part in the fifth annual Polar Plunge Belleville event, running into the cold water while raising funds for Special Olympics Ontario.
It was originally scheduled for last Friday but was postponed due to poor ice conditions.
Belleville Police Service Constable Brittney Blake, who emceed the event, said it was great to see the community come out in support.
“So we raised almost $18,000 and it’s counting. I haven’t counted all the cash donations either,” Blake tells Quinte News.
“So, amazing contribution to Special Olympics Ontario. We had an amazing crowd come out here today. It really brought the community together, and it was awesome to see.”
