The Prince Edward Curling Club presented $45,363 to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation for its Back the Build campaign.
The money was raised from the curling club’s third annual Curl-A-Thon on February 8.
Ninety-six curlers took to the ice in two-hour blocks to raise funds for the new hospital.

Representatives from the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) Foundation were rocked this week, when the Prince Edward Curling Club members presented $45,363 that will Back the Build for a new PECMH.The curling club hosted their third curl-a-thon on Saturday, February 8 in support of PECMH Foundation’s Back the Build campaign. In total, 96 curlers took to the ice in two-hour blocks to raise funds for the new hospital campaign.The curl-a-thon swept together new and experienced curlers from the community to support the hospital foundation.“The outpouring of support from so many people and local businesses was incredible again this year,” said Pam Piercey on behalf of the Prince Edward Curling Club. “Our members always come through; there was no exception this time. We had tremendous support from those staffing the kitchen, helping on-ice, and those tending to the bar.”While curlers solicited donations from family and friends, the local business community came through with food donations, and prizes for the top pledge earners. The curling club donated ice time and provided equipment, instruction, and volunteers to organize the event. The entire community’s generosity helped maximize the foundation’s proceeds, totalling over $150,000 in the last three years“The heart of Prince Edward County shines in moments like this—when community spirit, generosity, and a shared vision come together in support of the new PECMH. With construction of the new hospital underway, every curler, donor, and volunteer is helping to bring this incredible project to life.
