Durham Regional Police Service is searching for a 31-year-old woman and an unidentified driver after an officer was struck by their vehicle while they were fleeing an attempted arrest in Oshawa.
On Friday, March 21, 2025 at approximately 1:30 p.m., a member of the DRPS’s Project Attire Auto Theft Unit was in the plaza at 22 Stevenson Road South when he saw a suspect from a recent auto-theft investigation breaching her release conditions. The officer attempted to arrest the female, who fled to a white Mercedes. The suspect got into the front passenger seat and an unknown driver began reversing the vehicle, dragging the officer several metres. The vehicle then struck a parked vehicle and fled the area.
The officer sustained minor injuries.
A warrant has been issued for the female suspect, and investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone that may have video surveillance to please contact police.
Investigators are working to determine the identity of the driver, who is wanted for dangerous operation and fail to remain.
Assia Ouadria, age 31, of Quebec is wanted for: fail to comply with release order; obstruct police and evade lawful custody.
Project Attire is DRPS’s response to Ontario’s Preventing Auto Thefts Grant program, which is designed to support new and enhanced crime-fighting measures.
