Prince Edward County is evaluating their boat launches to ensure that any maintenance needs are being met.
During Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, councillors discussed a staff report on the status of the municipality’s 13 boat launches.
The report showed the current condition of the facilities and any needed maintenance on the boat launches. The focus of the report was on the docks and ramps themselves, and laying out plans to make any needed repairs or upgrades.
The Big Island and Prinyer’s Cove launches are considered highest priority for new ramps, and the report advises replacing them in 2025. Other launches are recommended for replacement in later years, depending on their condition. Funds for upcoming maintenance are planned to be drawn from parking revenue at the boat launches.
The committee accepted the report, and directed staff to evaluate the boat launches for potential accessibility improvements as well. The motion was sent on to council for final approval.
