Belleville police responded to 79 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on March 24, 2025 to 5 a.m. on March 25, 2025.
Theft
On March 24, 2025 at 2:02 p.m., police were called to a Bell Blvd business for a report of a theft in progress. Store staff had observed a male conceal a number of tools then leave the store. Staff approached the male and retrieved some of the stolen items. Police locate the male a short distance away. As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Brian Scrymgeour of no fixed address was arrested and charged with theft under $5000. He was released on an undertaking with a court date in April.
False fire alarm and breach of probation
On March 24, 2025 at 7:04 p.m., police were called to an east end facility to assist with a resident who had purposefully activated the fire alarm in order to unlock the doors so she could depart the residence. Police attended and located the female a short distance away. After speaking to everyone involved, a 24-year-old female was arrested and charged with false fire alarm and three counts of failing to comply with her probation order. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
