The Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Stouffville Spirit 6-4 to take a 2-0 lead in their OJHL East Conference semi-final.
Cooper Matthews’s hat trick paced the win. He has seven goals in the post season.
Thomas Kuipers added a pair and Corbin Roach had three assists. Ryan Sanborn stopped 34 shots.
Game 3 is Tuesday night at 7:30 in Trenton.
Huskies get even
There was a big crowd in Napanee Sunday night but most went home unhappy as the Frankford Huskies clipped the Raiders 4-1 to square their Junior C division final at one win each.
Almost 1100 people took in the game at the newly named Best and Bash Arena.
Game 3 is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Frankford.
Red Devils win OMHA title
The Quinte Under 12 AAA Red Devils followed up an undefeated season by going 5-0 to win the OMHA championship in Newmarket.
The Red Devils only allowed five goals in the tournament.
