The Belleville Senators defeated the Toronto Marlies 3-2 on Friday night at CAA Arena.
Jan Jeník, Angus Crookshank, and Wyatte Wylie. scored for the Senators.
The Senators opened scoring just five minutes into the first frame, with both teams taking turns at scoring, until they carried a 2-2 score into the second period. In the second, the Senators slipped a late goal in to take the lead, before holding the lead through a scoreless third to win the game.
During the game, Angus Crookshank scored his 22nd goal of the season, and franchise record 77th of his career, taking over the Belleville Sens all-time scoring lead.
After the game, Crookshank said getting the win was important for team morale.
“At the end of the day, I wouldn’t be able to call myself a record holder without my teammates that I’ve played with over the past three years,” said Crookshank. “I’m very thankful for them, and hopefully I can score a few more down the stretch.”
The Senators are back in action on Saturday night, facing the Marlies again on the road.
