Northumberland OPP have charged a driver with impaired operation following traffic enforcement.
At around 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, police say a passenger vehicle was spotted going 122 km/h in a posted 70 km/h limit on County Road 2 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.
The driver is alleged to have fled from police, but the vehicle was soon located at a nearby residence.
Officers spoke to the driver and entered into an impaired operation investigation.
An Approved Screening Device demand was made for a sample of breath.
The person complied and with the result of ‘fail’ the individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.
Thirty-one-year-old Brandon Hrazdira of Whitby, Ontario was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Flight from peace officer
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Fail to notify change of address – licence.
In addition to a future court date, the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
