Northumberland OPP say one person is facing a long list of serious charges in connection with an intimate partner violence investigation.
Police began an investigation with the assistance of the Northumberland Crime Unit on Wednesday after receiving a complaint about a number of incidents believed to have occurred from November 2024 until recently.
Thursday, with the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit, officers arrested a person at a residence in Northumberland County.
A warrant was executed at the address with the assistance of the Canine Unit.
As a result, a 25-year-old, has been charged with:
– Pointing a firearm
– Assault with a weapon – spousal
– Assault – spousal
– Forcible confinement – three counts
– Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
– Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal – two counts
– Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – three counts
– Uttering threats – damage property
– Uttering threats – damage or injure animal
– Theft under $5,000
– Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused, who has not been identified, was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
