The City of Quinte West will be applying for federal funding for the Trenton Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project.
The decision was approved by Quinte West City Council at its meeting on Wednesday.
A report to council outlines that the application for the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund must be received by March 31, 2025, and the project completion as per the funding requirements is September 30, 2031.
The fund requires municipalities with populations of 30,000 and above to implement zoning for four units as-of-right in order to receive funding.
Municipalities may submit an application based on a commitment to implement zoning changes to allow for four units as-of-right and may receive conditional approval.
The report says that planning staff are currently researching and preparing a report that will be presented to the Planning Advisory Committee on May 15, 2025 regarding the four units as-of-right requirements.
