Belleville recognized the contributions of the Shorelines OLG Casino to the community, in a ceremony held at City Hall on Tuesday.
Over the 2024 fiscal year, the casino paid $3,526,075 to the city.
Mayor Neil Ellis highlighted the impact that Belleville’s share of funds, paid out by the casino, has on many projects around the community.
“It means a lot to our non-profits and social infrastructure people in the community,” said Mayor Ellis. “Whether it’s Quinte Arts Council or Community Volunteer Information, all great organizations that are underfunded and are always looking for dollars.”
Several local groups receive grants through the Community Funding and Grants program, which is supported by the OLG funds.
Those groups include Belleville Community Fund, Bridge Street United Church, Community Care for South Hastings, New Life Recovery Ministries, Next Steps Housing Connection, Quinte Arts Council, Three Oaks Foundation, and others.
The funds have also been used for infrastructure projects and doctor recruitment.
