Educator John Goheen will represent the Liberal Party of Canada in the riding of Northumberland-Clarke (formerly Northumberland-Peterborough South) in the next federal election.
Goheen, who was named the riding’s Liberal candidate in December, says his goals are straightforward – to develop plans and then fight for issues around Productivity, Affordability and Sustainability.
The East Northumberland Secondary School graduate holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours from Trent University, a Bachelor of Education with distinction from Western University and a Master of Education from The University of Toronto/Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
Goheen began his teaching career at ENSS and taught at several schools in Northumberland before becoming a vice-principal and then principal.
He is currently Principal of Hillcrest Public School in Campbellford and he and his wife Dani live in the Grafton area with their three sons.
Goheen endorsed Mark Carney during the Liberal leadership campaign saying Carney’s fiscal and economic expertise on the global stage is second to none and make him the right person to lead the country and take on U.S. President Donald Trump.
The riding is currently represented by Conservative MP Philip Lawrence.
