Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams was among those in attendance as the Centre for Workforce Development held its Employer Day of Action Tuesday at Trentport Marina.
The event brought together local employers, educators and government leaders to address local workforce challenges and explore solutions.
Williams says with potential Donald Trump tariffs threatening local industries and Loyalist College facing layoffs, the region must act fast to protect jobs, train workers, and strengthen productivity.
He is encouraging every employer in the region to fill out the Centre for Workforce Development’s Employer Survey.
“Across Canada, over 400,000 skilled jobs remain vacant. That’s a productivity crisis costing businesses money and the Canadian economy billions,” says Williams. “This survey is a simple but powerful step to ensuring Bay of Quinte businesses have the workforce they need to thrive.”
The results will be made available to Loyalist College, economic development offices, and local schools to help match job seekers with the right skills and training.
