The annual pace of housing starts slowed in Canada last month.
That’s according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, which says housing starts were down four per cent from January to February.
Meanwhile, it was a different story locally.
In the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) which includes Belleville, Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon and Tyendinaga-Deseronto, housing starts were up considerably last month from February of last year.
There were 175 starts consisting of 165 apartments and 10 single-family homes.
In February of 2024 there was a total of 86 starts in the Belleville-Quinte West CMA.
