Federal funding is on its way to The Bridge Integrated Care Hub.
Health Canada has announced that the project will receive nearly $3.5 million in funding to help retrofit the building into an integrated care hub.
The funding is part of the over $11.4 million coming from the Emergency Treatment Fund for 14 projects across Canada.
The provincial government had previously committed $6.3 million a year for 3 years to operate The Bridge through its HART (Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment) program.
Once completed, the hub at 1 Alhambra Square will offer supports and services for Belleville’s homeless and vulnerable population.
In January, Ontario announced it would be providing $6.3 million a year for the next three years to the project.
At that announcement, the hope was to have the new HART Hub in Belleville running by around April 1, 2025.
