The 25th Annual Quinte Sportsman Boat and RV Show took place over the weekend.
While the final attendance numbers are still being counted, organizer Jeff Cox said they’re on track for another year of record attendance.
Cox highlighted the popularity of some of the event’s activities, including live animal shows and scuba diving.
“The live trout pond. They get to fish, catch a fish, and of course it goes back in the pond, “said Cox. “That’s been very very popular, it’s been lined up constantly. The kids enjoy it.”
The main attraction was the local retailers, who were showcasing outdoor gear for the summer months. Exhibits included everything from fishing rods and boats, to RVs and ATVs.
Despite the looming shadow of the trade war between the US and Canada, and the Trump tariffs that go along with it, Cox said that the local retailers hadn’t raised their prices.
“They haven’t affected anything yet,” said Cox. “If you are thinking about buying a boat or a trailer or something like that this summer, it’s probably wise to do it at this time. If you’re going to do it, May or June, you might be smarter to think about doing it earlier.”
The event started on Friday, and continued through Saturday and Sunday.
