The Central Hastings Family Health Team says it has been made aware of nine confirmed cases of measles in Hastings County.
The health team is asking its patients to confirm that they and their family members have had two doses of measles vaccine. They say those born before 1970 would likely have had measles as a child and are protected.
If immunizations were not received by the health team or provided record to them as a patient, the immunizations may not be on file at the clinic.
You can view your records at ICON, Public Health’s secure online database.

Measles is a serious, vaccine-preventable infection that can cause severe life-long complications.
Symptoms of measles begin seven to 21 days after exposure and include fever, runny nose, cough, drowsiness, and red eyes. Small white spots appear on the inside of the mouth and throat but are not always present. Three to seven days after symptoms begin, a red, blotchy rash appears on the face and then progresses down the body.
