The annual gala raising money for The Children’s Foundation goes Saturday at the Armouries in Belleville.
The sold out event honours Tom and Golda Lafferty and this year’s theme for the Guardian Angel’s Gala is Prom 2025.
Organizing Chair Cassandra Bonn tells Quinte News the Laffertys are selfless.
Audio Player“Tom and Golda Lafferty are true pillars in our community and we’re so honoured to be able to celebrate them in a big way.”
Bonn says the money supports children across Northumberland, Prince Edward, and Hastings County.
Audio Player“We have about seven programs that are core services. Camps of Hope, Playing for Keeps. We buy cribs and car seats for kids. The Strive to Thrive Mental Health Program, bursary and scholarship program. Basically taking them from almost infancy right up to their needs as an early 20-year-old.”
She says the program and services for the foundation continue to grow as the need grows in the community.
Audio Player“A lot of financial hardships have a lot to do with it. The more that we are out there in the communities presenting all of the ways that The Children’s Foundation can help, that brings in new people to our organization.”
