The annual Coldest Night of the Year walks took place across the country last night, raising funds for a variety of local causes.
In Trenton, the walk was in support of the Care and Share Food Bank, with a goal to raise $20,000. That goal was shattered with the fundraiser bringing in over $45,000.
Jen Koorneef, a manager at the food bank, thanked the food bank’s volunteers for their effort in setting up the fundraiser.
“I’m absolutely blown away by the support that we’ve received through this event,” said Koorneef. “We could never have dreamed of this kind of turnout for our first year, and it’s because of you all.”
A coldest night walk also took place in Belleville, raising over $53,000 for Grace Inn shelter.
