A Kingston police officer has been charged by the Durham Regional Service after investigating the actions of the officer while he were off duty.
Kingston police say Sgt. Jason Alblas was charged with one count of sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred while off duty in August of 2024.
Kingston police were first made aware of the incident in October 2024 and the Durham Regional Police Service was contacted and commenced an independent investigation into the incident.
The officer was suspended from duty under The Community Safety and Policing Act.
He was arrested in Napanee by the Durham Regional Police Service, was released with a future court date and is suspended without pay.
