When the 4 Nations Face-Off Trophy is presented following Thursday night’s championship game between Team Canada and the U.S.A., it will have a significant Belleville connection to it.
The trophy, which doesn’t have a name yet, was designed by Belleville native Robert Grier.
Grier is a graduate of Moira Secondary School and Loyalist College. He has worked with the NHL Players Association for 15 years and is now the Senior Manager of NHLPA Creative Solutions.
The 44-year-old Grier was part of a team that was given about 3 months to design the trophy which had to be shorter and lighter than the Stanley Cup.

Grier is in Boston where the trophy will be presented to either Canada or the U.S.A. at the conclusion of the 4 Nations Face-Off tomorrow night.
