The Toronto Marlies edged the Belleville Senators 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night.
Jeremy Davies scored twice for the Senators.
The Sens opened scoring late in the first period, with the Marlies grabbing a goal to take a 1-1 tie into the next frame. Neither team scored in the second, and with both teams grabbing an extra goal in the third, the tie persisted into overtime. With just under a minute of overtime play, the Marlies picked up a last goal, to take the win.
Belleville Senators Head Coach Dave Bell said that the team will come back strong for their next game.
“We had some really good looks, but we hit posts,” said Bell. “I think we probably out-chanced them, and volume-wise, we just couldn’t put pucks behind them when we had some yawning cages.”
The Senators are back in action on Monday against the Utica Comets.
