The Make Happy Tummies campaign to support the Food for Learning program kicked off Thursday.
Formerly know as Toonies for Tummies, the program raises money through local grocery stores.
During stage one of the campaign, donations can be made during checkout at Metro and Food Basics stores through February 14.
Funds raised help provide nutritious meals and snacks to students, ensuring they can focus on learning without the distraction of hunger.
“The support from our community is truly incredible,” said Jenn Barrett of the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. “With every donation, we’re making a real difference in the lives of students right here at home. No child should have to try and learn on an empty stomach.”
